Bill Boyer, Founder of Mokulele Airlines will be the keynote speaker for the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce 2nd Quarter Membership Meeting on June 23 at Hilton Kaua‘i Beach Resort. Boyer’s topic of discussion will be about “Growing an Airline In Hawaii’s Current Economy.”

Boyer brings a diverse background to his role as Founder of Mokulele Airlines that is built on a unique combination of entrepreneurship and hands-on airline experience. While working in customer service for Alaska Airlines, Bill invented the digEplayer 5500 a groundbreaking portable entertainment system that won him the Airline IFE Product of the Year Award. Today the digEplayer is a standard IFE on many airlines. In 2005 Boyer departed Alaska Airlines to acquire Mokulele Flight Service, an on-demand charter and tour company committed to improving inter-island travel in Hawai‘i. In 2006, under Boyer’s leadership, Mokulele Airlines received DOT approval to begin operations as a scheduled U.S. airline operator. Boyer has continued Mokulele’s focus on making airfare affordable for Hawaiian residents and the communities they live in as well as for the many tourists who want to explore the Hawaiian islands. Bill has been featured in Entrepreneur Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, INC Magazine, USA Today and Boyer acquired Mokulele Flight Service, with continual commitment to improving inter-island travel in Hawai‘i. Boyer and Mokulele Airlines are making airfare affordable for tourists, residents and communities in Hawai‘i.

Also on tap for the evening will be the presentation of the Chamber’s Scholarships – thanks to the many sponsors, donors and golfers of its recent annual scholarship tournament held in May. This year’s scholarship recipients are Meleho’ala Ng (Kaua‘i High), Baron Rapozo (Kaua‘i High), Rachel Anne Wright (Waimea), and Braden Hiraoka (Kaua‘i Community College).
