PUHI — Kaua‘i Community College is helping the Garden Isle go green by presenting its first free Green Tech Expo on May 5 at the campus One-Stop Center.

Co-sponsored by the KCC Office of Continuing Education and Training, the Pacific Center for Advanced Technology Training and Technology News Bytes, the expo will be open from noon until 6 p.m. where exhibitors will be showcasing cost-saving green technology that people can incorporate into homes or businesses.

Free informational workshops led by sustainability educators are also open to the public on a wide variety of subjects.

Some of these include “It’s Not Easy Being Green,” “Green Business Strategies” and “Kauaian Sustainability: It’s Not What We Think, It’s How.”

Additionally drawings for green prizes will be given away between workshops.

“As we look to the future, we should all be looking for ways we can live in a sustainable manner as individuals and as businesses,” said KCC Chancellor Dr. Helen Cox. “Not only does this make environmental sense, it makes economic sense.

“One area of hope is technology for it is through technology that many of the exciting changes to make us ‘green’ are possible. Something as simple as new light bulb technology is an example, but ‘green’ technologies go much further.

“The Green Tech Expo will highlight green technologies available now and inform us all on how we can reduce our footprint by going green. We are KCC are delighted to host this opportunity for the community to learn how to make a better world.”

For more information, or if people are interested in becoming an exhibitor, contact the KCC OCET at 245-8318.

A complete schedule of events can be found at www.kauai.hawaii.edu/training.

OCET’s mission is to provide effective customized training that responds to the professional and personal development needs of Kaua‘i community’s lifelong learners with courses accelerated and focused to meet specific industry needs.
