" Bub and Vicky were like my parents on Kauai all through the early 70's . They fed me, kept me out of trouble, and Bub used to take me surfing all the time. He was my role model, the Man I wanted to be. He was a hard worker, very akamai, and a no shibai kind of a Man. I just found out yesterday from a friend on Maui, ( Bub and Vicky took care of him too) I am deeply saddened by this news. Aloha Bub I will miss you. Patrick McElgunn Bandon Oregon. "

" I received word of Bub's passing this afternoon. Bub was a true friend and mentor to me. He got me started in construction so many years ago and much of what I am, and have, today is the result of the foundation he provided. Just yesterday I was talking to my boys (12) about life up in the valley with Bub and Vicky and how we would see them on our visit to Kauai later this year.
RIP my dear friend.

" When I recieved the call all I could feel was Vicki's pain, but then I realized how strong and wonderful she is and what great kids they made - they are all survivor's. Vicki was like the Mom I never had growing up and Bub was my 2nd Dad. They were neighbors to my Dad and I in both Santa Cruz and Hanalei and each time we'd move over to Kauai, Bub & Vicki were always the first stop. I laugh out loud when I think back to our Hare Krishna meals, the tree houses and oh so many times. I'm pleased I was able to get married on Kauai and both Bub & Vicki were present to share the happiest day of my life. Bub will never be forgotten - all who knew him, loved him!
