One of the persons reportedly stabbed at Ching Young Village in Hanalei Friday night was a Good Samaritan attempting to break up a fight.
“Coan attempted to intervene between an ex-boyfriend and an ex-girlfriend who were arguing and subsequently ended up being the victim of a stabbing,” said Kauai Police Department Assistant Chief Roy Asher.
Patrick Coan is the 32-year-old Hanalei man who stepped in and remains at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in fair condition with injuries to his back and elbow.
The other person injured in the incident was 24-year-old Lauren Criswell, also of Hanalei. Criswell was treated at Wilcox hospital and has since been released.
Police arrested Aerial Star, 23, at the scene of the stabbing on charges of second-degree attempted murder. His preliminary hearing is set for this morning.
