People on the Move

The following individuals recently launched a business, were appointed to a leadership position or honored for their work in the business community:

• Don Taylor, chief financial officer for Unlimited Construction Services Inc., a Kaua‘i-based general contracting company, has become a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional and is only the third Hawai‘i resident to earn the prestigious designation. Taylor passed a comprehensive exam that required knowledge of construction industry-specific techniques and understanding of accounting, income recognition, budgeting and planning, risk management, taxes, human resources, legal issues, information technology and joint ventures. Taylor is also a certified public accountant and a certified management accountant with 30 years of financial management experience.

• Mary K. Townsley-Ross has been promoted to vice president from assistant vice president of Corporate Communications at Bank of Hawaii. Townsley-Ross continues her duties as corporate communications administrator, which include overseeing the bank’s internal communications for print and web-based channels. In addition, she supports marketing communications, media relations and crisis communications planning efforts. Prior to joining Bank of Hawaii in 2003, Townsley-Ross served in corporate communications at Hawaiian Airlines. Townsley-Ross holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa. She is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators.

• Christopher Cole Young has been promoted to vice president from assistant vice president of Private Client Services on Kaua‘i at Bank of Hawaii. He continues his responsibilities as relationship manager, which include establishing and managing client relationships for the sale of credit, deposit, trust and investment services. Prior to joining Bank of Hawaii in 2004, Young served as a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch in Orange County, Calif. Young earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from California State University, Long Beach. Young is a board member of the Kaua‘i Concert Association and a member of the Hanalei Bay Rotary Club.
