Under the No Child Left Behind Act, economically disadvantaged families whose children attend schools that have been identified as being “in need of improvement in Year 2” have the right to select a state-approved Supplemental Educational Service provider to deliver free federally funded academic tutoring services to their children.
For the 2006-2007 school year, there are up to $8 million in federal funds that can be allocated to provide these services for approximately 41,000 eligible students at more than 100 eligible schools in Hawaii.
It’s All About Kids is a state-approved SES provider serving students in the kindergarten through 12th grade. IAAK has improved learning during the first year of service to eligible students on Oahu and is expanding its services statewide this year. In addition, IAAK will offer unlimited access to its software and rewards program to all students that complete their tutoring sessions with an IAAK coach.
“We are so committed to having positive student outcomes that we want students to continue to use the software and earn the rewards for their academic accomplishments beyond the funding allocation for each student,” said Brett Seitman, President and CEO, in a press release. “We are excited to offer this service as an added value for students who finish our program and want to continue to learn.”
Each IAAK student takes a pre-test so that an individualized learning path can be created that will focus on the key areas of remediation for that specific student. IAAK’s software provides the student with interactive computer-based instructional activities that motivate them to learn while having fun. The curriculum is directly correlated to the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards and the National Assessment of Educational Progress standards. IAAK provides an on-site coaching staff that assists the students with off-line activities to reinforce core areas.
