With its 25th anniversary long gone, the organizers of the annual Ha‘ena to Hanalei 8-mile run/walk are ready to bring in another 25 years.

“In 2005, we had a record number of participants and this year is sure to be as exciting, so mark your calendar to come to beautiful Hanalei Bay and join in the fun while supporting a worthwhile cause,” event organizer Mary Mair said.

The 26th annual Ha‘ena to Hanalei Run is scheduled for June 3.

The event, sponsored by the Hanalei Canoe Club, is a great opportunity for runners and walkers of every age group to enjoy a morning on the North Shore followed by an awards ceremony and the famous all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast.

The 8-mile walk begins at 6 a.m. and the 8-mile run begins at 7 a.m. Participants in the 8-mile run/walk will be shuttled from the Hanalei registration point at the Hanalei Pier to Ke’e Beach located in Ha’ena State Park at the end of the road.

“The run/walk includes numerous one-lane bridges, challenging hills and beautiful views of our North Shore mountain ranges, beaches and streams. The final leg of the race passes through Hanalei and finishes by the pier,” Mair said.

The 5K run and the 1-mile youth run begin and end at the Hanalei Pier. The 5K starts at 7 a.m. and the youth run begins immediately after.

The pancake breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Hanalei Canoe Club.

“All runners and walkers enjoy the pancakes as part of their race fee. Friends, family and non-runners are invited to enjoy the breakfast for a donation of $5,” Mair said.

Entry forms are available at Peddle and Paddle in Hanalei, Princeville Spa, Kaua‘i Cycle in Kapa‘a, Bicycle John and at the Kaua‘i Athletic Club in Lihu‘e.

Entry forms are also available at www.hanaleicanoeclub.com or email hccc@hawaiian.net to have an entry form mailed to you. For more information, call 639-4048 if you have any questions.
